The Tree Planting Process
Planting a tree seems easy enough; you put a seed in the ground, forget about it, then watch in awe as it begins to sprout a few days or weeks later, right? It’s often not that simple. Tree planting is just as delicate a process as it is a beautiful one. It requires a lot of thought and consideration, especially in terms of the area’s location and conditions.
Once you’ve determined that the conditions are suitable for the tree, you can begin preparing a planting hole. Dig wide but not very deep since that could be detrimental to the health and survival of the tree.
Before placing the tree in the hole, remove it from its container to avoid constraining the roots. Ensure the tree is straight before filling up the planting hole. When filling it up, keep the soil loose rather than compact. Pour some water after every few soil layers to help the soil settle. Keep caring for the tree by watering it, pulling weeds, and dealing with pests. Avoid fertilizers in the earlier days unless there is a severe soil deficiency.
